Anthony “Tony” W. Smith – 1958-2022

Anthony “Tony” W. Smith, 63, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 20, 2022. He was born June 20, 1958, to the late Tyler Keels and Adean (Smith) Green. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Gloria; three daughters, Alexis Smith of Little Rock, Ark., Kimberly Hardin (Mark) of Edmond, Okla., Shannon Piggee of Little Rock, Ark.; one son, McKinsey Tremaine Piggee (Tre Dawg) of Little Rock, Ark.; grandson, Axton Lee Manning, who brought out the gentle spirit that very few ever experience in him. Anthony was the owner and instructor of LRK9 Academy.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gerice Clark (William). He is survived by four sisters; Louise Harris, Sandra Henderson, Shirley Jones (Tyrone) and Terry Smith all of Little Rock, Ark.; two brothers, Marcus Smith (Dedra) of Little Rock, Ark., Rev. Tyrone Keels (Angela) of Mansfield, Texas, and many nephews, nieces, and loving relatives.

Walk-through visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2022, 12 noon to 4:30 p.m., Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester Street, Little Rock. Masks are required. Social distancing is observed. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 26, 2022, 11 a.m., Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1109 S. State Street, Little Rock.

  • To the Family, I can’t explain the Sadness you are feeling right now with the sudden passing of “TONY”. Learning to grieve will teach you what you do and don’t have control of. Grief has taught me that I don’t have control over a lot of things in life, but I do have control over who I trust to lead me in the grief. Family hold on to the God of life and don’t weep as though those who have no hope look to the author and finisher of your faith, Jehovah Raph your provider.

  • I had the honor & pleasure of working with Tony for 10 years. He treated people with respect and I enjoyed our conversations always. He had such a gift with dogs & people and will be sorely missed.

  • I am so sorry to hear the passing of Tony. He helped me with my Golden Retriever 7 years ago. I always thought a lot of him. Prayers for the family. ( I just found out today that he had passed away).
