Calvin Shackelford, Jr. – 1939-2025

CALVIN SHACKELFORD, JR, 85, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. Born on September 16, 1939, in Little Rock, Ark., to the late Calvin Henry, Sr., and Mary Shackelford.

Calvin was a man of great integrity and deep faith, known for unwavering love and dedication to his family. He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force and carried the values of discipline, loyalty, and service throughout his life. Calvin graduated from Arkansas Baptist College and Horace Mann High School Class of 1958. Calvin’s love for his family was matched only by his commitment to his community, where he was an active participant with the St. John Missionary Baptist Church Usher Board.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Shirley Jackson, Charles, Samuel, and John Martin Shackelford.

Calvin is survived by his loving wife, Parthenia”Tina” Harris Shackelford; son, R. Barry Shackelford (Chiquita) of Little Rock; daughters Karen Henderson (Nathaniel) and Karla Porch of Lithonia, Ga., Six grandchildren, Arian Shackelford, Jessica Henderson-Rockette (Jeremy), Nathalie Bland(David), Nandi Porch(Bill), Linzy Henderson, and Charles Porch, III; two great-grandchildren, Ava Rockette and Halo Rhodes. Three siblings, Milton(Crystal) Shackelford of Peachtree City, Ga.; Charlotte Scott, and William Earl, III “Pokey” Shackelford of Little Rock. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a legacy of love, kindness, and integrity.

Homegoing Services will be Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. John MBC, 2501 S. Main St., LR, Ark. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to join them in honoring his memory. Interment will be held at noon at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Ave., NLR, Ark.
