Lillian Rutter – 1943-2024

Lillian Marie Pruitt Rutter, 80, was born in Little Rock, Ark., June 1, 1943.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Benny L. and Ruth J. Pruitt; brothers, Benjamin Pruitt, Sr., Charles Pruitt, Sr., and John N. Pruitt; and son-in-law, Alvin Morris.

Lillian lived as a livelong servant to her family, students, friends, and church, where she served on many ministries. She was educated in Little Rock public schools, received a bachelor’s degree in education at Arkansas Mechanical and Natural College (UAPB) in 1965, and a Masters in Education from Baptist College in 1974. She taught at Little Rock School District and Pulaski County Special School District for 40 years. Lillian was tirelessly devoted to teaching anybody to read through her tutoring services. In retirement, she served as a caregiver to her parents and others, and as a mentor to other caregivers.

She and her husband, William, spent their time fishing as much as possible and being available for their daughter, Delores “Dee” Morris, and two grandchildren, Adrianna Morris, 17, and Andre Morris, 15.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 57 years, William Rutter; daughter, “Dee”; grandchildren, Adrianna and Andre; and a host friends, family, colleagues, and people who loved her dearly.

There will be a walk-through visitation at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 1-4 pm. Funeral service will be Friday, March 8, 2024, 11 a.m. Viewing is at 10 a.m. at Greater Archview Baptist Church, 1720 W. 23rd Street, Little Rock, Ark.
