Robert “Bob” L. Whitfield, 85, moved from this world into eternity on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Proud son of Rose E. Strong Whitfield and William H. Whitfield, Sr., he was the eldest of their fraternal twins (Robert and Roberta) born in Scottsboro, Ala.
Bob was a trailblazer as a civil rights activist at Arkansas AM&N (UAPB) and U of A Fayetteville.
Bob leaves to cherish and continue his legacy, his beautiful, loving, devoted wife of 57 years, Constance “Connie” E. Clayborne Whitfield; his beloved son, Jawanza Robert (Dr. Martha Wall) Whitfield; his dedicated, devoted daughter and caregiver, Dr. Anika T. Whitfield; his “nother” daughter, Ava Coffee (Chuck) Burks; eight grandchildren; six great-grands; his sisters, Billie Rose Jacobs and Roberta L. Kelley (St. Louis); and sisters in love, Shirley Whitfield (Baton Rouge), Jimmye Whitfield (Fayetteville), and Verna E. Clayborne (DC); and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
