Ella Louise (Hall) Hill was born January 10, 1935 in Colfax, Louisiana. She is the third of ten children born to Lula Mae Brokenbaugh and Theodore Roosevelt Hall.
Both parents preceded her in death as well as four brothers, Samuel, Horace, Troy, Isaiah, and one sister, Augustine. She accepted Christ at an early age. Ella graduated from Lewisville Senior High School in Kinta, Oklahoma in May 1953. She attended Shorter College in Little Rock, Arkansas, graduating with a degree in accounting in May 1957, Dr. Theophilus D. Alexander presiding. While attending Shorter College, she met and married the love of her life, Hayward Hill on August 9, 1959 – a marriage of over 60 years. To this union, two children were born, Rharl Darnell Hill and Sharl Delon Hill.
Ella worked as an Accountant and Administrator of the Arkansas Children’s Colony until she retired in 1992. She was a member of First Baptist Church Highland Park under the leadership of W.W. Walker, Jr. She was also an active member in the choir and a dedicated member, instrumental in building much needed areas of the church, always willing to help anyone in need.
Her favorite hobbies were gardening, fishing, and most of all sewing, making wedding gowns for her sister’s weddings. Her tenure here, as her father would say, “On this side of the Lord’s vineyard” takes her from Louisiana, Oklahoma, Seattle Washington, California, and Arkansas!
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Hayward Hill, two children Rharl Hill (Anne) and Sharl Hill; four grandchildren, Jherald, Rosella, Diana, and Rharl Jr.; one brother, James Hall, Sr. (Ruby); three sisters, Esther (Freddie), Mary (Leron Sr.), Christine; and a host of cousins living in Alexander and Colfax Louisiana and California, nieces and nephews in Oklahoma, and many loyal friends here in the state of Arkansas.
