Leah V. McSwain, age 81, died quietly and peacefully on July 16, 2022. Leah was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on October 8, 1940, to the late Ozora Lee Mack and Edward Blackwell. Leah was a 1958 graduate of The Academy of the Holy Angels High School. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after many years in Chicago and Little Rock.
Leah is also preceded in death by her husband, Lounduffie McSwain. She will be greatly missed by her son, attorney Darren (Carlene) McNeal of Westerville, Ohio; stepdaughter, LaTonya (Clarence) White-Jones of Little Rock; siblings, Kathryn Bailey of Washington, D.C., Bruce (Robbin) Bailey of Plano, Texas, Lydia (David) Bailey-Ramirez of Kansas City, Mo., Hollis (Evelyn) Peoples of Topeka, Kan., and Norman Quarles of Winfield, Kan.; grandsons, Channing and Myles McNeal of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Latallya Rice; two great-grandchildren; and other cherished family members and dear friends. Leah was a golden thread woven through a beautiful tapestry of life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 1622 Marshall Street, Little Rock, Ark., at 9 a.m. Masks required. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 11300 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72212.
