Margaret Morris – 1939-2023

Margaret Ann Freeman Morris, 84, of Little Rock, Ark. found peace as she entered the arms of her Lord and Savior, reuniting with her beloved son, Teddy Morris, on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023.

She was born on June 7, 1939, and raised in North Little Rock, Ark. by her grandparents. She graduated from Scipio A. Jones High School and continued to be an active participant in her class reunions.

Margaret Ann married her high school sweetheart, John Edward Morris, and was a devoted wife and friend for 60 years. She honored her vows to John, never leaving his side even to the end of her journey. Of this union, they had six children whom she loved dearly and flourished with their presence. Her purpose was always centered on family as she valued her role as a wife, mother and grandmother. She brightened any room with her stunning presence and created a welcoming atmosphere with her delicious homemade foods. Margaret enjoyed road trips and vacations with her family and most of all planning for her annual meticulous Christmas decorations that brought joy initially to the Fair Park community
and for the last 15 years to the Aberdeen neighborhood in Chenal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie Langford and Scipio Freeman Sr.; her devoted grandparents, John and Gertrude Bush; and her son, Teddy Morris. Margaret leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, John E. Morris; brothers Scipio Freeman Jr. (Charlie) of Cleveland, Ohio and
Michael (Marion) Freeman of Omaha, Neb.; her children, William (Dinah) Morris, Karen Morris, Keith (Bishawn) Morris, Christopher (Amanda) Morris, Jermaine (Stephanie) Morris all from Little Rock, Ark., as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Lee Chapel AME Church, 421 West 22nd, North Little Rock on July 13, 2023, with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. the morning of the funeral at the church. Burial will take place at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery, 1501 West Maryland Ave, NLR at 1 p.m.

  • To the Family,
I’ve learned that people will forget what you said. People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. ~Maya Angelou
So very sorry to hear about your sadness. Your Wife/Mother was a very special person and I too loved her dearly. She will be sorely missed. Her friendship was genuine and when at the “Morris” home, the hospitality (headed by her) was amazing, unmatched by any I’ve ever known. She made everyone feel welcome beyond measure…….always. And I see some of her in each of you, so her legacy will live on. God bless you all.
    Sincerely,
    Your cousin Carylon Morris
