Ola Stewart – 1927-2025

Mrs. Ola Faye Stewart passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 peacefully at her home in Little Rock.

Born in Pulaski County, Ark., on May 11, 1927 she was one of 12 children born to the late Mack and Bertha McTyer. She married Rev. Frank J. Stewart in 1944 and to their union eight children were born.

Mrs. Stewart was a graduate of J.C. Cook High school and later received an AA Degree from Shorter College and a BA Degree in education from Philander Smith College where she graduated with honors. Mrs. Stewart taught 2nd grade in the Lonoke School System for 30 years at Carver and Lonoke Elementary Schools. She was a longtime member of St. Andrew A.M.E. Church where she served in many capacities throughout the years.

She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Frank J. Stewart, three sons; Russell L. Stewart (Cathy), Michael R. Stewart (Princess) of Little Rock, Ark., and Larry J. Stewart of New York City, N.Y., and one daughter, LaJuana Stewart of Houston, Texas.

She is survived by two sons, Charles O. Stewart and Wayman E. Stewart and two daughters, Bobbie J. Robinson and Jerrilyn Clay, all of Little Rock, Ark.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at St. Andrew A.M.E. Church, 3003 Bishop St., Little Rock, Ark., 72206 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 815 W. 16th St., Little Rock, Ark. 72206.

  • Sending prayers, condolence’s and a bouquet of love to the Mrs. Ola Faye Stewart family. You are blessed to have had such an amazing and beautiful mother. She gave her Heart, Wisdom and Time molding her beloved children, church and community. God sent an earth angel to enrich masses of people. She never knew any strangers because her heart was that huge. I am sure that she will be missed by all that loved and cherished her. I’m so glad to have met her.
