Ruthie Walls

Ruthie Mae Hawthrone Walls, 94, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away peacefully in her home on May 16, 2024.

Ruthie retired from the Veterans Administration as an Environmental Services Supervisor in 1998 with over twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Greater Works Christian Church in Little Rock.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, Elnora Grady, and John B. Hawthrone; sister Margaret Hawthrone; brothers William Hawthrone, Grady McFadden, and Fred Hawthrone; her husband of 21 years Rayfield Walls; son Marcellus Person; bonus daughter, Angela Lemmons; bonus son, Raymond Walls, and her great-grandson Martieo (Martee) Nash.  

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, three sons, Ben Edwards, William Harlen, and James Stanfield; six daughters, Reva Cohn, Judy Brady, Nyla Cohn, Laura Teamor, Edith Morrissey and Jennifer Lloyd; bonus children, Wyethia McCoy, Belinda, Robert and Anthony Walls, as well as 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation is Friday, May 31, 2024, 9-10 a.m. at the Greater Works Christian Church. Funeral service begins at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans’ Cemetery, North Little Rock.
