Sterling Freeman, Jr. – 1953-2022

STERLING FREEMAN, JR. was born July 8, 1953 to Ire Mae Hameth and Sterling Freeman Sr. of Dermott, Ark. He attended Chico County High School. He later went into the work force as a Food Service Specialist at International House of Pancakes (IHOP). He also was employed with Daily Furniture Store in Little Rock, Ark., and was employed with Little Rock Water Works. He later became a truck driver. Some of Sterling hobbies were shooting pool, hanging out with family and friends, and keeping his vehicles in top notch condition. Sterling love to dress in the latest fashion, and loved his afro. Sterling met Dana West in Little Rock, Ark., and was united in holy matrimony in 1983.

Sterling departed this life in the early morning of February 6, 2022, at Cottage Lane Nursing Home in Little Rock, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling Freeman Sr., and Ire Mae Hameth; sons, Terrance Dewayne Freeman and Damon L. Freeman. He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Jay M. Freeman of Little Rock, Ark.; sisters, Carolyn Freeman of Long Beach, Calif., Ruby Ray of Ontario, Canada; brothers, Michael Freeman of Hawthorne, Calif., Ronnie Hameth, Augusta, Ga., Wayne Hameth, Little Rock, Ark., and Reginald Hameth, Atlanta, Ga.; grandkids, Terrance Dewayne Freeman, Jr., Sebrina Freeman, Jaylea M. Freeman, and Jay M. Freeman; and aunt, Eliza Myles; and uncle, Ted Bealer; and, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 12 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. in the chapel at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 S. Chester St., Little Rock, Ark., 72202, Masks are required. Social distancing is observed.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m., Arkansas Memorial Garden, Thursday, February 17, 2022.
