Garland Gilbert, 88, of Little Rock, transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 12, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Ona Gilbert; brother, John T. Gilbert; his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary Arlece Hudson Gilbert; grandsons, Penze Wine and Gabriel Carter.
Garland Gilbert affectionately known as GB by his family leaves to cherish his memory: children, Mary Ann (Peter) Robinson, Garland Gilbert, Jr., Tina Gilbert and Jeanette Carol (Andre) Davis; sister, Jeanette Lynch, Tampa, Fla.; brother, Barnett (Gloria) Gilbert, Newark, Calif.
Garland Gilbert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family, including his 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was a faithful deacon and member of New Calvary Temple Church of God in Christ for over 40 years; he worked at the Department of the Air Force for over 30 years; and served his country in the United States Army, Korean War.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 18, 2020, 11 a.m., New Calvary Temple Church of God in Christ, 1120 Bishop Lindsey Avenue, North Little Rock, AR. 72114.
Interment will be at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery, 1501 W. Maryland Avenue, North Little Rock, AR 72120. Visitation will be Friday, July 17, 2020, 12-5 p.m., Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester Street, Little Rock, AR 72202.
