On Monday, March 1, 2021, our husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, Harvey Gomillion, gained his heavenly wings. The second of seven children, Harvey was born on October 7, 1953, to the late Samuel David Gomillion and Julia Mae (Shutes) Gomillion.
Harvey attended Little Rock Central High School until enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in November 1970. In 1971, Harvey joined Fox Company, 2d Battalion 4th Marines and deployed off the coast of Vietnam. As a Staff Sergeant in 1977, Harvey left the Marine Corps and enrolled at Arkansas State University, majoring in Agricultural Economics and began work with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service of the Department of Agriculture.
In December 1981, he augmented back into the Marine Corps and was assigned as a Recruiter in Little Rock, Ark. After thirty years of service, Harvey retired at the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant. He continued his career at Applica where he worked over 10 years as the Logistics Manager. Harvey continued to live up to his nickname, Go-Go, by enrolling at the University of Arkansas Little Rock where he graduated with a Master of Science on May 5, 2007.
While serving in the military, he married Sharon Nichols on April 14, 1973. To this beautiful union, three daughters were born: Lakeyesha Gomillion, Susan (Rodrick) Pickett and Tina (Johnnie) Wesley. Harvey recognized granddaughter Chantia Gomillion as his daughter who he raised as his own. He also had one son, Caleb (Lonnika) Walker. Harvey was blessed with three grandsons, Javarus Pickett, Markell Pickett, Caleb Walker, Jr., nine granddaughters, Tashayla Gomillion, Samaria Pickett, Jaimee Batts, Mya Smith, Kyreen Harris, Treasure Wesley, Serenity Wesley, Caleigh Walker, three great-grandsons, Carter Staton, Giovanni Pickett, Cato Smith, and one great-granddaughter, Melianna Pickett.
A pillar in his family and community, Harvey had a passion for family, friends, fishing, hunting, reading, crossword puzzles and education. He was a strong believer in maintaining family genealogy and ties. A friend to all, his contributions to the lives of many include teaching high school in Little Rock school district, being an active member of the Metro Area Bass Club and Kids Fishing Derby, serving Deacon and armor-bearer at Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church and acting member of the Gomillion and Shutes family reunions. He cherished his friendships and being there for others.
Survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sister, and a host of nieces, and nephews. Harvey will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Oakland Cemetery directly following services.

Sad to hear the loss of a community builder like Harvey. I enjoyed our work together reaching youth through fishing at the nature center in Little Rock. Wrapping his family in prayers and peace.
