Kevin Oates, 50, of Little Rock, transitioned to his heavenly home on July 6, 2019.
He leaves to remember and cherish his life: one son, Kelvin of Little Rock, Ark. mother, Kathleen Oates of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Karen Oates-Jackson (Gerald) of Arlington, Texas; one brother, Kelly Oates of Little Rock, Ark.; as well as two children he raised as his own Brandon Shavers (Tamesha), and Mekale Coates, both of Little Rock, Ark.; four nieces, Cierra Jackson and Kellie Oates of Arlington, Texas, Kamyrn Oates of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Kanesha Oates of Little Rock, Ark.; three nephews, Christian Oates of Little Rock, Ark., Kyron Oates of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Tralane Funches of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren; one aunt, Fawntella Maxwell of Little Rock, Ark.; two uncles, Henry Walker of Little Rock, Ark. and Claiborne Carter of Vacaville, Calif.; and a host of great nieces and nephews, along with many cousins and close friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11 a.m., at Greater Nation International Church, 9001 Sunset Lane, Little Rock, Ark. 72202.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 2801 Asher Avenue, Little Rock, Ark. 72204. Family hour will be held Friday, July 12th, 6-7 p.m. at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 372-1305.

Our condolences go out to the Oates family. We knew Kevin as “Problem Child ” but he was anything but a problem. Kevin was a nice guy and a good friend. May God hold you all real close to His bosom. Two wheels, one love.

Scoota— no words can ever truly explain the loss of a parent at such an early age. What I saw of your relationship with your Dad, resembled what Rusty and I are so very fortunate to have together. A father son relationship which is the center of both our lives. Nothing can replace your Dad, but the memories and love he gave to you will be unforgettable. Be strong young man, for that’s what he would have wanted for you.
The Referee Nation already misses you. I never heard anyone say a bad word about Kevin. We will miss you, my friend,

My heart goes out to my extended Oates family not a day go by that Kevin is not thought of or remembered in a special way. Kevin was truly an awesome and amazing long time friend, he would tell you right or wrong. It was an honor to carry out his last wishes he always spoke about but I never imagined would happen so soon. I know my friend is at PEACE with his crazy laugh rejoicing with the Angels …….
