LUCIOUS POWELL, 87, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went on to be with the Lord on January 4, 2024.
He was a dedicated member of Christway Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, choir member, and Superintendent of the Sunday School. After over 35 years of service, Mr. Powell retired as a respected educator, mentor, and administrator, from the Little Rock School District. He was a graduate of A. M. &N./UAPB and a member of the Pi Lambda Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
Preceded in death by his son, Eric Powell, Lucious is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Edith Powell; daughter, Karen Lawrence; sister, Ruthie Hayes; three grandchildren: Erica Smith, D.J. Adams, and Faith Lawrence; and great-grandchild, Jaidah Smith.
A service to celebrate Lucious Powell’s life will be held Thursday, January 18, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 1400 S. Ringo St., Little Rock. Visitation will be at Mt. Pleasant at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral.

We also had heartfelt recollections of his beautiful voice singing Oh Holy Night at our Christmas assemblies. Rest in Peace Mr Powell.
